LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PRIVACY STATEMENT

Sport Integrity Australia is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles, which regulate the handling of personal information by Australian government agencies and some private sector organisations.

Under the Privacy Act, ‘personal information’ is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not the information or opinion is true or recorded in a material form.

This Privacy Statement outlines how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed when using Sport Integrity Australia’s Learning Management System (LMS).

THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The LMS is Sport Integrity Australia’s education platform. The LMS is managed by Sport Integrity Australia and contains course content created by both Sport Integrity Australia and Play by the Rules.

You may contact the Sport Integrity Australia Education Team to request an alternative method of obtaining the course content, however, we are unable to guarantee that this can be facilitated.

We only collect, use, or disclose your personal information for the purposes of carrying out our statutory functions and activities under the Sport Integrity Australia Act 2020 (Cth) (SIA Act) and the Sport Integrity Australia Regulations 2020 (Cth) (SIA Regulations).

By using the LMS, you are consenting to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described below.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you use the LMS, we collect the following personal information:

  • your name,
  • your email address,
  • your date of birth,
  • your sport,
  • your state,
  • your communication preferences, and
  • your course completion and course interaction history.

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Sport Integrity Australia and, where relevant, Play By The Rules, may use your personal information to:

  • track your learning and development activity,
  • improve and monitor LMS services,
  • respond to your inquiries and requests, and
  • monitor and report on course engagement and completion.

As part of our commitment to improving sports integrity, we may use your personal information to contact you via email about participating in surveys or feedback requests to evaluate the effectiveness of our education programs and services; gather feedback on your experiences with using the LMS; or identify trends and opportunities for improving sports integrity and engagement.

Participation in these surveys is voluntary, and your responses will be anonymised, unless otherwise stated. We will advise you of any third party we may engage to administer a survey on our behalf, and how your personal information will be handled.

We may also use your personal information to send you newsletters and updates about events, course improvements, and new products and services, via email.

You can opt-out of receiving promotional communications or surveys, at any time, by updating your preferences in your LMS profile, contacting the Sport Integrity Australia Education Team, or following the instructions contained in any communications you receive about our promotional material or participating in a survey.

DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

To monitor and report on course engagement and course completion data, Sport Integrity Australia and/or Play By The Rules may disclose your personal information to certain third parties such as Play By The Rules State Coordinators, National and State Sporting Organisations, National Sporting Organisations for People with Disability, or sporting organisations such as State and Territory Academies/Institutes of Sport, the Australian Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Australia or Paralympics Australia, in accordance with relevant provisions relating to the disclosure of ‘protected information’ as defined under the SIA Act.

Your personal information may also be used and/or disclosed where required or authorised by Australian law, for the purpose of anti-doping or other sport integrity investigations in accordance with relevant provisions of the SIA Act, or as otherwise set out in the Sport Integrity Australia Privacy Policy.

ACCESS TO, OR CORRECTION OF, YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Under the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth), you have the right to request access to, or correction/amendment of, your personal information. You can do so by contacting Sport Integrity Australia’s Privacy team at: privacy@sportintegrity.gov.au.
