Hey coaches, get ready for an exciting showcase of young athletic talent! Brisbane, the future host of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has just been announced as the venue for the 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Athletics Championships. This event, sponsored by Tourism and Events Queensland and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, is happening at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre from December 6-8, with a one-day National Schools Challenge on December 9.

As our Paris 2024 heroes return home, we'll see the next generation kick off a thrilling summer of athletics. The Championships are the pinnacle for school-aged athletes (12-17 for able-bodied students, up to 19 for para events) and provide a platform for these young stars to compete, chase personal bests, and earn national recognition.

Over 1,200 school students from across Australia will participate in events from sprints and jumps to throws and walks. This is where many of Australia's greats began their journey, including world champion Eleanor Patterson, Australia’s fastest man Rohan Browning, and Brisbane local and discus record holder Matthew Denny, who won six Australian All Schools titles in 2012 and 2013.

Minister for Tourism and Sport, Michael Healy, is excited to see the future stars of Australian athletics flock to Brisbane. He emphasized the importance of this event for young athletes to compete at a national level, push their limits, and gain recognition, setting them on the path to Olympic success. Plus, it's a big win for the local economy, expected to inject over $2 million and attract nearly 5,000 visitors.

Brisbane's Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner is also thrilled to welcome the Championships. He noted that Brisbane, home to major global events like the 2032 Olympics, is the perfect place to host this national athletics event. It’s not just about the athletes; the city’s economy will get a boost, supporting local jobs and showcasing Brisbane’s world-class restaurants, tourism experiences, and lifestyle precincts.

Athletics Australia CEO Peter Bromley expressed his excitement for the event in Brisbane, especially with the upcoming Paris 2024 Games. He believes the inspiration from Paris will carry over to the school students and spectators at QSAC, making this an unforgettable Championships. Bromley is particularly excited about the possibility that some of these young athletes might return eight years later for the 2032 Olympics, starting their journey right here.

The Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Championships is a crucial part of Athletics Australia’s junior participation and pathway strategy, aiming to foster talent and provide development opportunities for budding athletes.
