Coach Education Leader
What is a Coach Education Leader?
Coach Education Leaders (also known as Coach Facilitators) deliver Australian Athletics-accredited coaching courses (online and face-to-face), assess course work, and mentor new facilitators.
Eligibility
Required
18+ years old
Current Athletics Coach Membership
Completed at least one AA coaching accreditation
Minimum two years’ coaching experience
In good standing with Australian Athletics
Desirable
TAE40122 Cert IV in Training & Assessment (or equivalent)
Current teacher registration
Tertiary teaching experience in coach education/development
How to become accredited
Standard Pathway

Online Learning
• Complete ASC Facilitation Essential Skills online course
• Review the online modules for the relevant coaching course on the Athletics Learning Centre -
Observe
• Observe a coaching course, assisting with planning and/or facilitating parts of the course. -
Deliver
• Deliver a coaching course, under observation. A qualified Coach Education Leader will supervise and provide support if necessary.
Accelerated Pathway

• Complete ASC Facilitation Essential Skills online course
• Review the online modules for the relevant coaching course on the Athletics Learning Centre -
Deliver
• Deliver a coaching course, under observation. A qualified Coach Education Leader will supervise and provide support if necessary.
Note: Teachers and individuals with significant facilitator experience may be eligible to follow an Accelerated Pathway to become a Coach Education Leader. In this pathway, the ‘Observe’ step is not required, as existing skills and experience provide sufficient preparation for supervised delivery. Eligibility for the Accelerated Pathway is at the discretion of AA.

What courses can Coach Educators deliver?
Only AA-accredited Coach Educators may deliver Coach Accreditation courses.
The cards below outline the minimum accreditation requirements for delivering each of AA’s coach accreditation courses. Coach Education Leaders must hold at least one of the listed accreditations to be eligible to facilitate the corresponding course.
To deliver this course, you must hold at least one of the following accreditations:
- Level 1 Youth Coach
- Level 2 Development Coach
- Level 3 Performance Coach
- Level 4 High Performance Coach
To deliver this course, you must hold at least one of the following accreditations:
- Level 2 Development Coach
- Level 3 Performance Coach
- Level 4 High Performance Coach
To deliver this course, you must hold at least one of the following accreditations:
- Level 3 Performance Coach
- Level 4 High Performance Coach
To deliver this course, you must hold at least one of the following accreditations:
- Recreational Running Coach (Level 1)
- Advanced Recreational Running Coach (Level 2)
- Level 3 Performance Coach, Specialisation – Middle and Long Distance
To deliver this course, you must hold at least one of the following accreditations:
- Advanced Recreational Running Coach (Level 2)
- Level 3 Performance Coach, Specialisation – Middle and Long Distance
Maintaining your accreditation
Required annually
Keep Athletics Coach Membership and coaching accreditation(s) current
Complete Sport Integrity Australia Annual Update
Complete Australian Athletics Annual Compliance Update
Complete PD as required
Remain in good standing with AA
Recommended
Facilitate at least one course/workshop per year
Re-review ASC Facilitation Essential Skills annually
If delivery lapses, AA/MAs may require refresher training to demonstrate currency (case-by-case)
