Athletics Australia Coaching Education
Our aim is to create an educated and connected coaching workforce, that works together to best support all Australian athletes.
The Australian Athletics Coach Education framework is based on the recommendations made by Stirling (2013) in โApplying Kolbโs Theory of Experiential Learning to Coach Educationโ. The philosophy of the framework is based on five key tenets that reflect best practice in adult education.
Learning involves experience, reflection, theorisation, and application.
Learning is a process and coaches improve from a combination of ongoing informal and formal education.
Learning is grounded in experience and information is introduced at an appropriate pace with practical application.
The accreditation pathway is specific to each coach, by offering a range of teaching methods and content options that fit the coachโs unique daily coaching environment.
Learning is an ongoing process that must continue outside of the traditional classroom.
