What inspired you to become an athletics coach and how has your personal journey in the sport shaped your coaching style and philosophy?
As an athlete himself, Quintin’s personal journey in the sport inspired him to become an athletics coach.
Quintin’s experiences have taught him the importance of discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting. These values shape his coaching style and philosophy.

What brings you the most enjoyment or satisfaction out of athletics coaching?
The most enjoyment and satisfaction Quintin derives from athletics coaching is witnessing the growth and progress of his athletes. Seeing them develop their skills, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals brings him immense joy and fulfilment.

Who and where are you coaching?
As a fitness professional, Quintin has had the privilege of coaching individuals of various ages and fitness levels.
Quintin believes in providing personalised training programs that cater to the unique needs and goals of each client.
Quintin has coached clients in both individual and group settings, and has experience working in gym facilities, outdoor environments, and virtual platforms. Quintin’s coaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where individuals can thrive and achieve their fitness aspirations.
In your experience what makes a great track and field athlete? What are some common traits you have observed in your athletes?
Several qualities contribute to making a great track and field athlete. Firstly, dedication and discipline are key. Consistent training, proper nutrition, and a commitment to improving are vital for success.
Secondly, a strong work ethic and perseverance are crucial, as track and field requires continuous effort and the ability to push through challenges. Additionally, a great athlete possesses a growth mindset, embracing opportunities for learning and growth.
Finally, mental toughness and resilience are essential, as track and field can be mentally and physically demanding. Overall, a combination of physical ability, mental strength, and a positive attitude contribute to making a great track and field athlete.
In Quintin’s experience, he has observed several common traits amongst his athletes.
Firstly, a strong desire to improve and achieve their goals is a common trait. They are motivated and driven to push themselves beyond their limits.
Secondly, discipline and commitment are prevalent traits. They consistently show up for training, follow their training programs, and prioritise their fitness goals.
Thirdly, resilience and mental toughness are often seen in his athletes. They are able to bounce back from setbacks, stay focused, and maintain a positive attitude.
Lastly, teamwork and support for one another are common traits. They create a supportive and encouraging environment, motivating each other to succeed. These traits contribute to their overall success as athletes.
What have your greatest successes been as a coach?
Quintin often finds fulfilment in helping his athletes achieve their goals, whether it's improving performance, overcoming challenges, or reaching personal milestones. Watching his athletes grow, develop skills, and gain confidence is a significant success. Additionally, witnessing athletes develop a passion for their sport, build resilience, and embody a positive mindset.
Ultimately, Quintin finds satisfaction in making a positive impact on his athletes' lives and seeing them thrive both on and off the track or field.
