Youth Coach Pathway

Coaches can specialise as Youth Coaches by earning Bronze, Silver, and Gold Badges by earning the requisite number of CPD Points.
How you earn CPD points is completely up to you!

To help you get started, this page shows a recommended learning pathway for coaches working in Little Athletics Centres and Primary Schools. The following progression is the recommended education pathway for youth coaches looking to develop their skills and knoweldge to specialise working with junior athletes.



Gold Badge - Earn 500 CPD Points

Introduction to the Musculoskeletal System - 15 CPD Points

Developing Safe and Efficient Movers - 20 CPD Points

Energy Systems and Building Fitness - 20 CPD Points

Coaching Female Athletes - 25 CPD Points

ASCA - Introduction to Strength and Conditioning - 25 CPD Points

Gymnastics Australia Fundamental Gymnastics course - 25 CPD Points

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid - 50 CPD Points

Plus 50 CPD Points of Event-Specific Education Courses (e.g. Sprints, Relays, and Hurdles, Throws, Jumps, Relays, Combined Events etc.)

Plus 20 CPD Points from face-to-face education seminars (e.g. Athletics Australia Conferences, State Athletics Coaching Masterclasses, Third Party Coach Education events etc.)


Maintaining Your Status

Every three years, you wil be required to complete compulsory tasks to maintain your coaching status. These comprise mandatory compliance modules, self-reflection, and completion of additional learning tasks relevant to your daily training environment.
