"I really enjoy seeing others flourish and together we progress our sport to higher levels."

1. Why You Want to Be Involved in the Mentoring Program

I have been involved as a coach since 1991 and have found that my journey as a coach has allowed me to interact with a lot of coaches, administrators, officials and athletes. These contacts shaped the way I coach throughout my journey, and I appreciated every interaction with people sharing their wisdom and knowledge. I love to share what I have learnt and experienced over my 35 years of coaching. I really enjoy seeing others flourish, and together we progress our sport to higher levels.

2. What You Can Offer the Mentees

Over my 35 years coaching, I have been involved from junior Little Athletics through to progressing athletes to Senior State, National, World University Games, Olympic Games medallists and World Championships gold medallists. I have seen the challenges junior athletes face when trying to move from the junior ranks into the senior competitive environment. With my experience, I feel well placed to offer advice to help others progress their athletes through the difficult stages from junior to becoming successful senior athletes.

I have also been involved in full time work for my complete coaching journey, and I can provide insights into bringing employers along on the journey to help progress elite athletes to higher levels of success.

3. What You Would Like to Gain from Participating in the Program

I would love to see long term growth with the athlete and mentor coach and their interactions along the journey. I will also enjoy learning from the mentor and their experiences. Keeping an open mind about learning from others is very important. In our group we learn a lot about things that do not go to plan, and it is about being adaptable and working through solutions that best suit everyone.
