Introduction to Sprinting: Five Critical Running Drills

The following video shares the desired technique for five of the fundamental drills for Track and Field athletes.

  • Marching: Develops running posture, dorsiflexion, and limb mechanics

  • A-Skip: Develops reactive strength in the foot, thigh, hamstrings, hips, and trunk, and correct foot plant and knee drive mechanics.

  • A-Skip with Dowell: Develops strength in core and emphasises lower body mechanics.

  • Driving Knees: Develops hamstring strength and emphasises desired form during the recovery phase.

  • Straight Leg Shuffle: Develops the desired foot strike.
