Expression of Interest - Para athlete to Coach Transition Program 2024
Athletics Australia is seeking expressions of interest from recently retired international/national level para-athletes interested in high performance coaching to participate in the Para Athlete to Coach transition program.
Program Summary
The Para Athlete to Coach transition program is an initiative aimed at assisting athletes to develop knowledge and experience gained as athletes to support future athletes. Additionally, the program will provide individualized support to the selected participants to promote their successful transition to coaching.
Two positions are available with an expected commencement date April 2024 and will be for up to two years.
Personal development opportunities may involve, but are not limited to:
· Joining Athletics Australia’s High Performance Coach Mentoring program.
· Funds for coaching related education opportunities.
· Attendance at national event group camps.
· International coach shadowing opportunities.
· Opportunities to participate in the AIS Coach Development programs and initiatives.
Selection Criteria
· Former International level para-athlete (OR high performing national level para-athlete)
· Retired from competing within the last two years.
· Genuine desire to pursue a coaching career with high performance athletes.
· Able to effectively transfer skills demonstrated by previous coaching and/or other teaching experiences.
· Athletics Australia Level 2 coaching accreditation or is actively seeking to achieve this accreditation level.
· Holds (or can hold) a valid working with children and police check.
· Ability to complete Sports Integrity Australia
- Anti-doping fundamentals course AND annual update course
- Child safeguarding in Sport Induction Course
- Competition manipulation and sports betting course.
