The assessment of strength and power is of critical importance in sport. The protocols introduced in this online module will help you establish consistent testing methods for strength and power assessment that have a sound theoretical basis but are also practical in the athletics training environment.

By the end of this module, you should understand:

  • The objectives of strength and power testing. 

  • The recommended structure of a testing session.

  • Power assessment protocols, including coaching and fault correction of the Power Clean and Power Snatch.

  • Strength assessment protocols, including coaching and fault correction of the Bench Press, Bench Pull, Chin Up, Incline Leg Press, Back Squat, and Deadlift.
