Mentor Profile

Jumps coach based in Brisbane with 30 plus years of experience across school, club, pathway and representative settings. Passionate about collaboration, sharing practical approaches that work in the real world, and supporting coaches to balance performance outcomes with sustainable coaching and family life.

Why I want to be a mentor

I have naturally gravitated toward supporting fellow coaches for many years. When I discover a successful training approach, I feel compelled to share it. With experience coaching beginners through to Australian representatives, and as a former high jumper and heptathlete I bring insight from both the athlete and coach perspective. I value collaboration and want to strengthen the Australian jumps community by paying forward what I have learned.

What I can offer mentees
  • More than 30 years of experience across a wide range of coaching environments
  • Coaching athletes and coaches in remote communities
  • Supporting schoolteachers and community leaders throughout Queensland
  • Experience coaching Queensland teams for both Little Athletics Queensland and Queensland Athletics, plus Australian team experience
  • Strong understanding of balancing coaching, work, and family life
  • Coaching athletes from beginner level through to international representation
What I would like to get from participating in the programme

There is something to learn from everybody. I am hoping to pay it forward. Nothing warms my heart more than sharing what I have learnt from some amazing people. I would like to gain new connections and friendships from the programme, but most of all I am hoping to enhance the already strong jumps family in Australian Athletics.

Occupation

My husband and I own and run two businesses in the construction industry. I mostly work on taking bookings, looking after apprentices, paying wages and invoices and generally doing office activities. I also coach athletics, basketball and netball at St Peters Lutheran College.

Coaching experience and key coaching achievements

I have been coaching athletics since 1990 when I became Development Officer for Little Athletics Queensland. Thirty five years later I have been head coach and life member of Ipswich Little Athletics and Vice President and Life Member of Ipswich and District Athletics Club. I am Head Coach for St Peters Lutheran College and have proudly led the team to two back to back national school championship titles. I have been Queensland coach for many Little Athletics and Queensland Athletics teams over the last 30 years.

I won Coach of the Year for Ipswich City Council in 2014 and 2024, Coach of the Year for Queensland Little Athletics (Frank Knight Memorial Trophy) in 2010 and won St Peters Lutheran College Coach of the Year in 2021. I am on the Nationals Jumps Event Panel and was in the 2022 intake of Australian Athletics Women in High Performance Coach Program. My first Australian Team Coach role was the UK and Germany Tour U20 in 2023. I was selected as one of the World Junior Team Coaches, Peru 2024. In October 2025 I was Team Coach for the Oceania Cup Team, Tonga.

General

At the end of the day, I am a mum of three who has been at Little Athletics with all three of my kids from under 6 through to under 17. That is 18 years straight of Little Athletics on Friday nights. I know what it takes to go from a beginner level coach to a national level coach. I am hard working yet set boundaries, so athletics does not take over my life. I believe I can really make a difference to up and coming coaches and their athletes.
