Role summary

Byron Bay Runners is recruiting a paid, coaching focused sprint coach (Level 2 or higher) to lead the Senior squad. This is a pure coaching role. Marketing, compliance, and parent liaison are managed by the Head Coach and club registrar. Priority for coaches based in South East Queensland (Gold Coast) or the NSW Northern Rivers.

What you will do

  • Coach sprint and relay skills for athletes aged 12 to 18.
  • Plan progressive sessions across a school term and competitive season.
  • Provide clear technical feedback and individualised cues during training.
  • Support athletes at competitions with warm up, equipment, race planning, and review.
  • Manage behaviour and conflict when required, aligned to the club code of conduct.

Support around you

  • Level 2 sprint and hurdle coach.
  • Level 1 coach for ages 8 to 12, supported by a student assistant coach.
  • Adult assistant Level 1 coach, ex NCAA Division 1 400 metre hurdler.
